BYLAWS
FUTURITY RULES

1. All stallions must be nominated & purchased through the NWMSOF to be an eligible stallion.
    a. A one-time nomination of $250.00 for get from a non-eligible stallion will be accepted to make one said get of stallion         eligible to show for the lifetime of the foal. Entry fees will apply.  

2. All exhibitors & Owners must be paid Members and in good standing. 

​3. All exhibitors and/or Owners must abide by AQHA, IBHA, ABRA, PHBA, APHA, NSBA, ApHC, POA, & PtHA rules.

​4. FOALS
  a. Only Foals out of eligible stallions may be shown at the futurity.
  b. Foals may only be shown in the classes that the stallion is eligible for.
  c. Weanling division split between early and late, split based on number of entries.
  d. There will be no shoes on any weanling shown, automatic disqualification.

5. ENTRIES
  a. No Free Entries. All entries accepted two weeks prior to show.
  b. All entries accepted up to two weeks prior to show.
  c. No Refunds.
  d. Office fee of $5.00 per horse will be charged.
  e. Minimum of five (5) places to be paid. 

6. SUBSTITUTIONS
  a. Board of Directors or Futurity Committee must be notified before Aug 15 of said year.
  b. Substitution upon death, or sever injury with Veterinarian certification.
  c. Substitution into any eligible class for a foal born in the year.
  d. Substitution foal must be out of an eligible stallion.

7. STALLION MONIES
  a. The stallion money will be divided up as:
  b. 70% for the weanlings.
  c. 20% for the yearlings(Halter & Lungeline)
  d. 10% for the 2 year olds.

8. JUDGES
  a. Competent judge or judges will be hired to judge all classes.
  b. Judges Fees and Arena fee will be paid with a percentage of stallion money and entry money.  

9. NON-PRO CLASS
  a. Must be out of eligible Stallion.
  b. Can not be shown by a trainer.
  c. Foals can only be shown by registered owner or immediate family member.  
  d. Pay back on entries only.
  e. Rookie awards will be given.  Rookie eligibility to be determined by board.

10. COLOR CLASS
  a. Must be out of an eligible stallion.
  b. Must have papers in one of the following color breeds: IBRA, ABRA, PHBA, Regular APHA, ApHC, or PtHA and be                judged on the preferred color of that breed, breeding stock and color bred but not exhibiting the color will not be eligible.
  c. To be judged 100% on color.
  d. To be judged in a moving circle both directions.

12. WEANLING CLASSES
  a. Must be out of eligible stallion
  b. Classes split 4 ways
      1. Sr. Stallions (early)
      2. Jr. Stallions (late)
      3. Sr. Mares (early)
      4. Jr. Mares (late)
          a. Grand and Reserve Stallions shall be chosen from 1st and 2nd placing in Sr and Jr Stallions. 
          b. Grand and Reserve Mares shall be chosen from 1st and 2nd placing in Sr. Mares and Jr Mares. 

13. YEARLING HALTER
  a. Must be out of eligible stallion.
  b. Split stallions and mares.
  c. Geldings shall show with stallions.
  d. Percentage (%) of monies split according to number of entries.

14. YEARLING LUNGELINE
  a. Must be out of eligible stallions.
  b. New NSBA rules apply. NWMSOF EXCEPTION: Exhibitor may show more than one entry.
  c. Pattern for conformation and Trot-Off for soundness. 
      1. Horse is walked to first cone and pause for conformation. 
      2. After inspection, horse is trotted around cone for soundness.  Horses showing evidence of lameness should be                       excused from the class at that time.

15. 2 YEAR OLD SNAFFLE
  a. Must be out of eligible stallions.
  b. NSBA rules and equipment apply.

16. OPEN WESTERN PLEASURE 
  a. 2 year olds allowed. 

17. RANCH HORSE PLEASURE
  a. Horses must have natural mane and tail. No banded manes. A completely
      roached or shaved mane is acceptable. No fake tails allowed. Working
      ranch type tack is the preferred gear. The Judge should ask for a trot, 
      extended trot, lope, extended lope, (hand gallop) and horses must back
      at least 5 steps. Bosal or bit is acceptable, age appropriate.

 18. SUPER HORSE AWARD ( FOR FUTURITY ELIGIBLE HORSES ONLY)  
  a. Beginning with 2012 foals, we will keep points on foals throughout their
      futurity career. The foal with the most points will be awarded the 
      Super Horse Award. The first award will be given in 2014 at the
      Stallion Fee Auction.
  b. Points to be awarded as follows:
          Participation 1 point plus
          1st Place 5 points
          2nd Place 4 points
          3rd Place 3 points
          4th Place 2 points
          5th Place 1 point
  c. Classes to be counted: Weanling Halter ( age & gender division)
      Yearling Halter ( gender division), Yearling Longe Line, 2 yr. old Halter,
      2 year old Snaffle Bit
  d. EXAMPLE : Horses name: Futurity Example
      2012 Weanling colt Early         1st place         5+1= 6
      2013 Yearling colt                     3rd place        3+1= 4
               Yearling Longe Line         4th place        2+1= 3  
               2 Year old Halter              2nd place       4+1= 5
               2 Year old Snaffle Bit       5th place        1+1 = 2
                                                                              = 20 points  

  19. SIRE OF THE YEAR AWARD
  Points shall be awarded based on the total number of Futurity eligible horses
  actually judged in the class. For example, if there are twenty head shown then 
  first place would get 20 points, second place nineteen points, and so on.
  All horses must be placed. Also, additional points will be given to
  Grand Champion colt/filly, 2 points, Reserve Champion, 1 point, in each
  sex division.
